thepoopers 2.0

The Poopers got a complete software upgrade! Fancy! Not that anyone would know...

Nothing is ever simple, is it? Site had to be scrapped and repieced together from the start, because the old and new versions of the software were incompatible. So much work, but necessary, so that the site can continue to grow. I even had to manually transfer all the old posts; I didn't do it with the old comments though, since now it's Facebook-based. It's all stable and up to date now! Now if only we can post more content...

Brass hardware is so sexy. Why does it seem like it's an unpopular option at the big box store? There are always plenty of silver/nickel, but the brass always either looks neglected, or made in very poor quality. Good brass hardware has such a solid feel to them. It shines brilliantly, and an antique finish brings out the edges and curves. The cheap brass stuff are like those generic doorknobs with a strange gloss finish. They look so dull. I don't think they're actually brass even. They would weigh heavier. I think almost everyone has cheap brass doorknobs in their homes. We sure do.

The other day in the supposed-junk-pile at Home Depot, there was a stash of brass drawer hardware for dirt cheap, by MARTHA STEWART!  I like these drawer knobs and pulls, because they're high quality and solid. You know, how oftentimes those cheaper handles are half-hallow and flat on the back side? So unpleasant. These "rejects" were $1.50 each--what a steal! They would go for $4.50+ normally. I bought almost enough for every cabinet and drawer in the house. Yeah, I'm pretty obsessive about hardware. I don't think there's a single stock knob/pull in the house that isn't going to be replaced.

Recently we recommenced bathroom refinishing. Feeling like it'll be a while before we'll actually get to remodel it entirely, we just did our best in the meantime to clean it up. Here are some of those brass babies in action.

Antique brass and white furnishing? Classy as hell. I can't wait to redo the other cabinets in the house too.
